Dear tru64 managers,

I'd like to hear advices on the maximum size of an Advfs domain. One
of our Advfs domain is 284 Gb large. It is made from 3 RAID5 volumes.

It works almost well. We had a problem when we added the third
volume. The system was running 4.0B + patches at this time. We added
the volume, and soon after we tried to delete this volume. For an
unknown reason, we were unable to delete the volume. The rmvol command
never stopped, and there was no disk activity for hours.

Digital was unable to explain. /sbin/advfs/verify didn't help. They
vaguely explained that so large domain were not common.

We our redesigning our disk space. We have to choose the size of the
new domains. Needless to say that large domains are a big win for the
kind of data we deal with.

What do you suggest for the biggest size of a domain (80 Gb, 200 Gb) ?

As usual, I'll summarize.

Thx for your help.
