Non-DEC NICs for Digital Unix anyone ?

Hello,

I' like to know if anyone of you is running a non-Digital NIC under
Digital Unix. I've tried a Kingston KNE100TX today, with a 21140 chip on
it, but it failed with "no SROM info for selected media". On the other
hand, I have here a totally no-name 21140 based card which works without
any problems. So I suspect that the problem is the media transceiver chip
which is different on some cards.

So my questions:

1.) How can I judge if a given 21140/21143 based card runs under Digital
Unix (without having to try it out). Can anyone state any specific
    requirements for the transceiver chips?

2.) Is anyone running a non-DEC NICs under Digital Unix and if yes,
    what brand/model number?

3.) Will DU 4.0F or 5.0 support a broader range of 2114x based NICs ?

Thanks a lot // Tom
