Orginal question:
I am looking for a batch queing software similiar to vms or mainframe sytle
batch file processing. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks to all that responded. I received a number of short responses that
provided a url that is already listed below. So not to put in redundant
info I have attempted to leave out duplicate answers for the most part.
But from the answers below you can get a flavor for what is available for
batch queue processing.

Answers:
Check CA-Unicenter (www.cai.com) for a very large, expensive product,
Platinum AutoSys (www.platinum.com, now owned by CA) for a smaller scale
product.
There are various free and commercial products available. LSF from platform
computing ((www.platinum.com,
http://www.platform.com) seems a widely used
commercial one, I
use it myself. There is various versions of the NQS systems and one called
Official recomendation from Decpaq is LSF from Platform Computing
(www.platform.com
unless my memory betrays me again). It is a very nice product, albeit not a
very cheap one.

DQS, a commercial version of which is called Codine
(
http://gimli.genias.de/products/codine/). Sorry I don't have URL's for
them
all.
Are you looking for a single server based system, network based,
multi-platform?
We use Craysoft's (now SGI's) NQE (Network Queuing Environment) localy
because
of its multi-platform support, its NQS heritage, and its flexability.
http://www.cray.com/products/software/nqe/
Some other options include:
1. NQS (Network Queuing System), there is a free version out there on the
web but I have lost the link. If you don't mind building it yourself
and not having commercial support -- this should get you basic
functionality.
2. DQS (Distributed Queueing [sic] System), more support for spreading
parallel jobs across systems. Free.
http://www.scri.fsu.edu/~pasko/dqs.html
3. CODINE (Commercial Version of DQS).
http://www.genias.de/welcome.html
4. LSF (Load Sharing Facility), this is Compaq's supported product. Back
when we looked at it in 1992, it didn't support the mixture of platforms
we were looking for, but multi-platform support seems to have improved.

These links may be of use but
neither is a good replacement for the VMS batch queing software :-(

http://www.gnu.org/software/queue/
www.sector7.com has VAX to UNIX migration tools for sale, including a
DCL emulator for UNIX and batch and print queues called VX/JSP
www.qmaster.com is another product with a batch processing focus.
For printing, we are pleased with Easyspooler sold by Seay Systems.
See www.easyspooler.com. In some ways, better than VMS' print
management. And by all reports MUCH better than UNIX's print manage-
ment. Nice people. Good support. Not overpriced.
And don't overlook www.unix.digital.com/products/interop/openvms.html/
for DEC's -- er, Compaq's -- official list of migration products. I
see Boston Business Computing listed there. I've heard bad things
about their pricing policies: A new start fee every time the kernel
is recompiled.
Finally, we've found an EVE emulation product we like from a/Soft
called nu/TPU. See www.asoft-dev.com.
We use this one:
ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/unix/utilities/pb.tar.gz
I succesfully used both NQS and PBS. My preferences go to PBS because
it has a nice GUI, but more or less the two are equivalent.
Here are the pointers:

NQS:
