QUESTION: Upgrading a 2100 to a 4000 and wanted to know the best path to
take all drives, OS, and applications from 2100 to the new 4000. Running
4.0B

SUMMARY: Pre-edit the fstab on the 2100 to prepare the correct rz? slots.
Boot to the CDROM on the new machine and mount the root drive, run MAKEDEV
for each of the rz? drives you'll need (I ran MAKEDEV rz8, rz9, rz10, and
rz11). Once you've got the drives pre-setup, boot the new machine with
the drive from the old machine to the "genvmunix" kernel. Rebuild the
kernel.

Delete the old Ethernet setup (tu1 on my old 2100) and run netsetup on the
new machine.

Viola, brain transplant complete. I struggled last night with the
Ethernet portion of this b/s the new machine (refurb) shipped with a bad
ethernet card. Otherwise it would have gone smoothly.
