Managers,
Finaly we descided to use NIS for authentication. We have
an ASE-Env. with 2 members, and we want to use ASE to have
an highly available NIS server. What we did so far:
< added an user defined login service (NISASE) with start/stop
scripts to have the daemons start/stop. And flipping the NISASE
alias from one to the other server. (with ../nfs_ifconfig ...)
so far it works fine.
Then we copied the /var/yp/src and /var/yp/<domainname>
directories to a shared filesystem, and made symlinks refering
to them. This is the point at which the problems began to start.
No NIS-user can log in anymore. It says "Can't rewrite protected
password entry for user ..." at the login prompt.
Does the ypserv process has not the needed permissions to
updated its database, because it remains now at an NFS-mount?
But it is exported to the servers with root-privilegs.
Does anybody has any further ideas?
Thank you.
