Mail with attacment in ALPHA UNIX

How can I send a E-mail since command line with attach file ?

For example

# mailx -s 'THIS IS A MESSAGE' jdere_at_hotmail.com < textfile.txt

This command send a message . the subject of the message is THIS IS A
MESSAGE and the body is the content of the file textfile.txt

but a want send the message with the textfile attachment
