Relocating RRD46: addenda

Hi All,

Got a question about an RRD46 CDROM drive in an Alphastation 500/500.
I've just added some new disks to the system but to fit the new disks
onto the wide internal SCSI bus I had to take the CDROM off the bus.
The system has an extra narrow scsi adapter in it which currently handles
the DLT tape drive and a Seagate 8Gb disk. Should I be able to connect the
RRD46 to this bus simply by adding a suitable ribbon cable?

I went ahead and tried it anyway since I couldn't find any obvious reason
not not. All devices show up at console level. The CD is now DKA400 on the
narrow bus as expected. Upon booting however a message from sizer fires
past on the console which I'm afraid I didn't catch and which doesn't
appear to have been logged in either the log file or messages.

The CD ought to show up as rz12 but doesn't. I guess something failed
during configuration stages of boot. The system is up and running for now
anyway without the CD being active. Getting the new disks on-line was
more important at this stage and for now I'll live without the CD.

Any offers on what to do next appreciated. When I get the chance I'll
try a kernel rebuild to see if that helps.

Cheers.

Joe
