Oracle Data Base went out to lunch and never came back

Okay, here's a stumper for you all. I have multiple oracle databases set up
on AdvFS file partitions running on an Alpha 1200 on 4.0D, no patches. One
of the databases is completely hung, the other is working nicely. If one
tries to do things like run programs off or against the partitions of the
hung database, the processes go immediately into an uninterruptable sleep
state with no errors or messages. This includes not only oracle
executables, but things like "ls" and "cd", too. It is possible to look at
each of the disks in the AdvFS domains via "disklabel -r" or the "scu"
utility, but showfdmn and showfset go uninterruptably to sleep. There are
no errors or messages in /var/adm/messages, nor are there any errors in the
binary system log. Also, there are no messages in the syslog.dated logs.
Basically, there are no clues and it is beginning to look as though a reboot
(which will undoubtably hide the real problem) is becoming my only option.
At this point any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
