SUMMARY: Problem: All network ports in use.

First of all, a big thanks to all who responded. The solution was given
by several people being to make more pseudo-ttys by using,

/dev/MAKEDEV ptyN

where N = 2,3,4, etc. MAKEDEV pty0 and pty1 are run during a DU4.0
default install. The same machine had (before reinstalling the OS)
plenty of ptys (400!) but no associated ttys which must also be required
as it never worked before. Thanks again to all who responded.
