HI All ,
Below is the original question .
Thanks to all the people who wrote .
It's um , only after I have read everything
including the archives , and done all the math
and things don't add up will I write to this list .
I wasn't very clear . These systems are very
boring and very static ; eg. if the root file system
goes up 1% , we all get together and throw a party .
Public Service , exciting hey !! .
I traced the problem with the swap space back
to a "hung" database , and a job scheduler .
A reboot eventually sorted everything out .
The swap space now sits on 24% reserved where it
has sat and sulked for the last couple of years .
