Dear all,

I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to send me a technical
description of the RAM used in the PWS series. It is clearly DIMMs, it
doesn't take a genius to work that out, but one of my darling users
has decided that they are the same as the PC100 SDRAM ones and
insists that these should work (ignoring evidence to the contrary as
in "plug the DIMMs in", ">>> show mem", and nothing has changed).

Tried the old BOFH trick of throwing some acronyms at the user,
e.g. it has to be ECC, but sadly these days PC100 SDRAM also comes in
ECC flavours. I also said it has to be Digital for the warranty to
hold (not strictly true, Kingston/3rd party is OK as long as 64Mb of
the RAM are Digital I haven't had any problems with warranty) but
sadly this knowledgable user will not stop. Worse of all, the DIMMs he
has bought use the same chips as the Digital ones (marked SEC)...

Any ideas welcome before he does the motheboard pins in...

Arrigo
