How to remove an X-extension?

Dear managers,

Tru64 Unix 4.0f no longer includes the Adobe Display Postscript
libraries. However, the Xserver still reports:

> xdpyinfo
....
...
number of extensions: 24
    Adobe-DPS-Extension
  ...
  ...

How can I remove the DPS-extension from the Xserver?

The false information given by the Xserver causes a lot of trouble,
since many software now try to access libdps.so etc, which are
nonexistant. One of these is FrameMaker, which uses DPS, if it is
there. If not, it can do without, too. Now, Frame doesn't start,
because there is no libdps.so.

For now, I've corrected the problem by copying the missing files from
Tru64 Unix 4.0e and that helped to get FrameMaker running, but so far
all other DPS-aware programs I've tried do not work. In other words,
the workaround is not the way to go, the libraries are not working
properly and they are not being supported any more. The programs die of
some X-error, like:

Major opcode of failed request: 78 (X_CreateColormap)
