I have one web site running on an Alpha 1000 4/200 DU 4.0B. The webserver
is Netscape Enterprise Server v3.x. It has four 4 gig scsi UFS drives.
The webserver/alphaserver has been having performance problems lately and
tends to slow down too much at peak times.
I've got another 1000 4/200 available that I'd like to share the load
between the two, but I have no idea where to begin making that happen.
I know I can round-robin the DNS between the two machines. But how do I
replicate the data on the drives? Can I run the second webserver reading
the data over NFS - is that efficient enough? Can I somehow replicate the
data constantly all day long. The site gets updated by 15 staff members
throughout the day.
We are starting to get too many complaints about the performance of the
site to just sit back and do nothing. All thoughts/ideas are appreciated.
