Dgital UNIX 4.0D and Samba 2.0

I understand that this is not a Tru64 problem directly but I think my problem is
somewhat related. I have 5 different Alphas of various models running
4.0D-PK3. All servers are
successfully running samba 2.0.3 with the exception of an AS 1200 that I just
got. Using the same samba source that I used on all the others, I successfully
compiled and installed it. When I run smbstatus, I get the following output:

Samba version 2.0.3
Service uid gid pid machine
----------------------------------------------

ERROR: Failed to initialise share modes!
Can't initialise shared memory - exiting

I actually have another 1200 that is configured identically to the one that is
giving me the problem. Any ideas of where I might start my troubleshotting
effort?

Many thanks,
