SUMMARY: Tru64 Unix 5.0 and /var/adm/utmp

The original question is included below.

In Tru64 Unix 5.0, structures in /usr/include/{utmp.h,utmpx.h,lastlog.h}
have changed in order to comply with other Unix standards.

After tips from the respondents, I realized that only users which were
connecting via ssh were not showing up in w/who/users/finger output.
Users connecting via telnet showed up with no problem.

Apparently each server demon is responsible for updating utmp when a user
logs in. Therefore the solution to my problem was to simply rebuild the
sshd server so that it used the new include files listed above. The
newly-built sshd server now correctly updates /var/adm/utmp. (Presumably
the telnetd server shipped with 5.0 already reflects these changes.)

-----> If you upgrade to Tru64 5.0 and you use ssh, you must
        rebuild the ssh binaries in order to make user accounting work.
