unix installation from someone without a clue!

Ok,

I've made some progress, I have found most of the dec unix cd's (vers
4.0, 4.0a, 4.0b, 4.0e and 4.0f)

I've found out how to boot from the cd properly now although I think what
I'd like to do is to wipe the machine, recreate the scsi arrays and
re-install
from scratch with ver 4.0e as that seems to be the most accepted rev.

Question,

with NT I can bung in a boot disk, run the adaptec raid config utility and
of
I go.

Then I bung in NT CD, it installs over the arrays I've configured and
presto.

With UNIX.....

What do I use to play with the raid arrays?

I presume the standard of creating a mirrored set of two disks for the
system and
raid 5 for the data still stands. Question is how do I do this?

I presume then again that if I create the device name for the two mirrored
disks then
I just install to that dev name and it should work.

Most of what I've said youre proabably having a good chuckle at, I know I
would if someone was asking me about nt and had not got a clue but I
appreciate any help.
