Thanks to "Sean O'Connell" <sean_at_stat.Duke.EDU> and "Vaupel, Jon"

I don't know what changed all of a sudden, but it was trying to
autonegotiate the duplex at 10mbps (still haven't gotten the 100mbps
working right per old posts). I changed the switch to force half duplex
and it works fine on reboot. All I see at console level is settings for
"Twisted Pair" "Fast" and "FastFD"... perhaps I missed something.
Thanks!
