Hi Managers -
I am posting this as a summary, since the problem is solved.
I looked in the archives, and did not see any posting on
this particular warning. Therefore, I assume that either
a) no one worries about it, or b) everyone knows about this
little qwerk with sys_check and therefore ignores it.
I just thought I would post this in case someone else runs
into the situation.
Last week, I ran sys_check114 on our system, and one
of the warnings was 16 files in /tmp:
Operational: Very large number of files were found in the /tmp ( 16 ) directory.
However, when I went to /tmp, there were no files present, so
that puzzled me somewhat.
Today, I just re-ran sys_check since I had made some changes
to the system.
While it was running, I checked /tmp, and discovered that
at that particular time there were 14 files in /tmp
that had been created and were being used by sys_check.
So, the warning message was solved. Evidently sys_check puts
some necessary files into /tmp and does not remove them until
the end, and it does not check the files in /tmp to verify if
it created them.
Sincerely,
Ron Bowman
