You probably already got the answer, but I hadn't seen a summary, so:

I think these messages are coming from the Advanced Printing Software,
started by /sbin/rc3.d/S??apx . I was getting these messages also. I
shutdown the apx stuff, and the messages stopped. If you need apx, i got
a notice saying there is a publicly available patch for this problem.

I stopped apx with '/sbin/init.d/apx stop' and error-messages stopped.
