default gateway changes

We upgraded from 4.0D/E to 4.0F (with patches) yesterday and now the
default gateway gets changed at random and this stops people from
connecting to the system.

e.g.. we boot the machine and netstat -nr will show:

default aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd

and then a while later after a couple of logins it will change to

default aaa.bbb.ccc.eee


What is going on. Please enlighten
