We have been using telnetfilter quite successfully for sometime on an
AlphaServer 2100 running Digital Unix 4.0B. We have only recently changed
production servers from the 2100 to a Compaq ES40 running Digital Unix 4.0F.
We have observed errors on telnetfilter printers since making the move, that
cause the daemon to die. Print jobs that have spooled to a telnetfilter
printer simply sit in the queue until an lpc restart is issued to that
printer or another print job is sent. It is at this time that the spooled
jobs begin to be printed.
The error messages appearing in the lpr.log file look like the following:
Oct 14 16:30:41 godzilla lpd[2147]: INFO -- printjob: created file
/usr/spool/lpd/p12/.daemon_running, printer p12
Oct 14 16:30:54 godzilla lpd[7244]: ERROR -- p12: cannot lock file lock: No
such file or directory
The lock file lock is always visible when doing an directory ls.
Does anyone know what is causing this and how it can be fixed?
Please respond directly to me and I will summarise.
Thanks,
David
