Can I connect a new TZ89 tabletop box without shutdown?

Hi all,

please tell me if I can disconnect the tabletop TZ88 box from the SCSI bus
and connect a new TZ89 box without shutdowning the system and switching off
the power on our AlphaServer 4100.
