vdump with -N option

Hello managers

I have a question that I hope you could help me with. I administrate a
network with an Alpha2100 server with DU4.0E.

Recently we had our TLZ6 tape drive changed to a TLZ10 with the capacity o
12/24 GB so now we are going to change our backup routines. Earlier I
backed up one special filesystem (or maybe I shoud say directory) every
night. I used tar in doing this. On the other file systems i made backups
during daytime maybe once a week or less. (These other filesystems didn't
change that often so it wasn't that important to back them up every night).
I did like this because the tapes were only 2GB.

Now that I can use 12 GB tapes I plan to back up all the file systems with
cron so that every file system will be backed up at least once a week. I
plan to use vdump instead of tar and use the -N option in order to be able
to back up two or more file systems on the same tape.

Now to my question:
One person that i talked with warned me from using the -N option. (He has
never worked with DU though). He said there could be difficulties in
extracting the data from the tape.
Has any of you had any problems with this? Please let me know about your
experienses so I can decide what to do.
Of course I will summarize.

Thanks in advance
