portmapper not responding

Dear managers!

I'm getting "Portmapper not responding: still trying" followed by
"Portmapper not responding: giving up" console messages on one of my DEC
3000/300LX boxes every now and then. OS is DU 4.0B, patch level 7.
There's nothing to be found in the logs. The machine appears to function
normally. Should I be bothered about that? I'll summarize.
