I had this same problem. There is an error in the way
root gets encapsulated. Compaq knows about this
problem. The solution to the problem is to go to
single user mode and correct the links in /etc/fdmns.
This
problem in no way effects operation of the system. The
chvol command, and others, assume a file name
structure that was not followed by the encapsulation
process.
By correcting the links in /etc/fdmns to the format
chvol complains about, you fix the problem all
together and sys_check will no longer complain. This
only happens with root encapsulation. It does not
happen when you manually create mirrored volumes.

Is this a typo? It should be
"/etc/fdmns/usr_domain/vol-rz8d", not the above.
I take it, you're using LSM? Tried checking the volume
itself?
Nix.

Hi admins
When I ran a syscheck v 114 on our production server (107 doesn't check) I
, it showed an error
"Operational: chvol failing on one or more advfs domains.
This is typically caused by incorrect links in /etc/fdmns/.../... .
Investigate and correct.
chvol /dev/vol/rootdg/vol-rz8d usr_domain Failed
chvol /dev/vol/rootdg/vol-rz8e var_domain Failed
===================================================================
then when I did a sample "chvol /dev/vol/rootdg/vol-rz8d usr_domain" it
gave the error below.
"chvol failed. possible Volume directory
'/etc/fdmns/usr_domain/rootdg.vol-rz8d' does not exist"
===================================================================
ls -l /etc/fdmns/usr_domain = lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     system        24 Sep
20 21:49 vol-rz8d -> /dev/vol/rootdg/vol-rz8d
ls -l /dev/vol/rootdg =brw-------   1 root     system    40,  5 Sep 20 21:49
vol-rz8d ,

when i do a showfdmn usr_domain. it gives no errors.
  usr_domain
  Vol 512-Blks Free % Used Cmode Rblks Wblks Vol Name
   1L    2147484      804208     63%     on    128    128
/dev/vol/rootdg/vol-rz8d

.then How do I overcome this problem?
