date rollback

I am posting this question once again in the hope that I will draw some
more answers out of people. ( I need to do this in the very near future)

The question is, What is the best way of rolling back the date on a
Digital 4.09D box that has been previously used as a Y2K test server.
The client want to rollback to any date before Feb 2000,

I have a full file system backup that I can use to restore from ( This
was done when the server was at a date of the 31/12/1999 ), However I
was more thinking along the line of changing the date and touching all
files that are out of date.

If I was to do a full restore, what is the best way of doing this? I
guess one of my burning questions in this is how do you overwrite an O/S

while using it at the same time?

Are there any more suggestions/explanations on how to rollback without a

full restore, either by touching all the necessary files, or any other
ways it may be accomplished
