Greetings all,
We have some older Alphas (turbochannel 3000; 1000A) that we'd like to
keep running 4.0B ("if it ain't broke..."). We've moved newer systems
(DS10's) up to 4.0F in anticipation of Jan 1, 2000, but firmware/hardware
issues with the older boxes make us antsy about trying upgrades on them.
I've heard rumors that the real Y2K problems with 4.0B are almost trivial
(eg., that only the "date" command is affected. We use NTP to keep
track of time, so this is not necessarily an issue for us. However,
even a check of date's man page (circa 4.0B) reveals provisions for
the century as well as the year).
In short, before I wade through archives, just what are 4.0B's Y2K
problems?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers
Chris
