Hello,
I recently found collect v2.0. I want to run it on my two 4100 nodes (unix 4.0d with patch kit 2, tcr 1.5 also with patch kit 2) to collect system metrics at 10 minute intervals over a 24 hour period.
Part of the documentation that comes with v2.0 describes it as a "field test" release and is not yet considered a "release candidate". So, my questions are these:
- what kind of experiences have people had with collect v2.0 on 4.0d/1.5 tru64/tcr?
- is there a more appropriate version for 4.0d? Or a more approriate tool?
- any pitfalls to avoid?
It looks straight forward - install the software subsets and then run a command something like
collect -f filename -i interval &
My ultimate object is to achieve some reasonable benchmarking for these hosts over an extended period of operation. I am personally more familiar with the "sar" family, but that seems to be wrapped into the "System V Environment" package for Tru64, which requires an (expensive) additional purchase.
Thanks for your time.
