As we have a spare big m/c available at present we decided to try out the
contingency plan for disaster recovery.
Using the cdrom for 4.0d and a new small disk (Rz28) we followed the
instructions for root recovery as follows:
disklabel -rw -t advfs rz0 rz28
OK
disklabel -r /dev/rrz0a
OK partition a marked as advfs
mkfdmn -t rz28 /dev/rrz0a root_domain
fails with error message
/dev/rrz0a is an invalid device or cannot be opened
the disk label /dev/rrz0a cannot be updated
mkfdmn failed
This is somewhat disturbing. We havent lost our root file system but if
we had......?
Have we done something wrong - it certainly seems to be as per the
example in the book.
