A long time ago, in the infancy of the company I'm at, a previous System
Administrator/DBA/Developer purchased NAS licenses with our equipment. Now,
as we approach the 21st century, we are trying to find out why these were
purchased, and to find out if it would break anything if we uninstalled
them.
My question is, is there anything that a NAS license unlocks in the base
operating system (in the networking, in particular) that would break if we
uninstalled this license. We run a basic TCP/IP environment without NIS,
DNS, or anything else. Also, what benefits do we gain by having a NAS
license? If this allows us to use a Layered Product, what would we be
gaining?
Thanks again,
Blake Roberts
