One of our alphas (DPW 500au, TU 4.0F) rebooted the other day
after a power failure. Now the X error logs are filling up
with error messages like this:
AUDIT: Fri Dec 10 09:28:22 1999: 22975 X: client 18 rejected from IP
130.102.120.16 port 16904
These are coming one a second for 20 seconds, then a pause for
20 seconds then they start again. The port number changes constantly,
the client number changes occasionally but the IP number is
always the localhost IP.
I tried starting and stopping the X server, switching between
xdm and cde but it makes no difference - except that with xdm
the errors appear in /var/X11/xdm/xdm-errors and with cde they
appear in /var/dt/Xerrors.
I don't want to reboot if I can avoid it because it's doing
important work.
(Our other alphas show occasional messages like this in
their logs but none over long periods like this.)
Anyone got any clues?
Thanks
Ian
