you don't need to restart the service. After adding the disk into the system
as usual, you should add the disk into the ADVFS domain (addvol) and then
let ASE to update the database in asemgr:
m) Managing ASE Services
c) Service Configuration
o) Modify a service without interrupting its availability
u) Update with storage configuration changes (LSM and AdvFS only)
ASE then finds the new disk for your existing ADVFS domain and asks you to
confirm the new configuration. It doesn't restart anything.
I have done this several times on ASE 1.5 / Tru64 UNIX 4.0D.
