Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to configure an HP printer that
is connected to the network with a JetDirect card (ie. it has an IP). I'm
running 4.0dPK5 and was able to set it up so that I could print text files
with `lp -d PRINTER file` using this printcap entry:
lp1|1|9SWHP5N:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lp1err:\
:lp=:\
:rm=9SWHP5N:\
:rp=text:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd1:
The downside of this is that if a line is longer than 80 characters,
everything past 81 is chopped off.
When I looked at the HP site and searched for instructions on how to set up
a printer to print from a UNIX box, it said to use the HPIIIsi printcap
script for connections. However, the IIIsi didn't appear as a choice in the
printer setup window.
The current settings also will not print a screen properly if a page is sent
from netscape from a CDE.
Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to setup the printer
so that we can print long lines, or even better, print from netscape as
well?
Thanks,
