Temporarily "Breaking" a Cluster

We need to build a temporary test bed here to test some software under Tru64
Unix 5.0. After a bit of thought, we came up with this idea. Please tell
me if:

1) it can be done;
2) any "pitfalls" I should be aware of before I try to do it.

We have a couple of two-member 4100 clusters running DU 4.0D and TruCluster
1.5. The idea is to remove a member from each cluster, add an additional
disk to each box, then install Tru64 Unix on the new disk, and boot the
boxes as "standalone" (non-cluster members) under Tru64 5.0. The remaining
halves of the existing clusters should continue to operate, simply assuming
that their "companions" have failed.

When we are finished with our tests, we propose to reboot the former
cluster members with their old operating systems and configurations, and --
hopefully -- they will rejoin their companions as though nothing had
happened.

Again -- please tell me if I'm proposing something that can actually be
done -- without wreaking intense amounts of havoc.

Thanks!

Frank
