Now that the Y2K event is history, I can get back to nuisance problems!
We recently switched our mail configurations to use a relay system elsewhere
on our network. Since that time, local nodes are having trouble sending
mail to each othere -- mail which shouldn't be affected by the relay.
Node A is named "smrs013.mdc.com" and has an alias of "decux1.mdc.com"
Node B named LEGVAX sends mail to the alias decux1 and on smrs013 the root
user gets a message from sendmail containing the error message:
----- Transcript of session follows -----
While talking to decux1.mdc.com:
>>> HELO smrs013a.mdc.com
<<< 553 Local configuration error, hostname not recognized as local
554 <m191713_at_decux1.mdc.com>... Service unavailable
This mailgram comes from an automated process on LEGVAX that was working fine
before sendmail was reconfigured to use the relay.
Sendmail was reconfigured using the mailconfig script. System is DU 4.0D
with Patch #4.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
