Hi all.

I guessed that the hang has to do with kmknod trying to create special
devices for some layered products, in particular, the multimedia stuff
"MME..."

I did a kmreg remove those and also removed them from SYSTEM.list and
rebuilt a new kernel.

That fixed it.

Thanks to both Dr. Tom Blinn and Knut Hellebų for emailing me. Both
suggested I ran the rc scripts and check things related to NFS mounting.
The hang is before the systems doing these things...

Subject: System hangs on bootup

Hi all.

I have a DU workstation running 4.0E. It hangs when starting up after the
local
fs check and "update: started"

I have to do control-C to continue.

I have been digging around but don't know which command was hanging there.
Any
pointers appreciated.

Chan
