Over recent months I have performed many Tru64 Upgrades using the
installupdate procedure.
Generally these have gone very well, but one thing does confuse me. During
the step up to V4.0F the upgrade always insists on installing LSM and AdvFS
subsets even if they were not installed on the previous versions. Many of
the systems I have upgraded originally had the factory installed software,
which did include AdvFS, LSM, ATM etc. I usually delete these subsets, as
most of the systems I have updated have no requirement for them and they are
just taking up valuable disk space. But always on the step up to V4.0F AdvFS
and LSM are put back.
Can anyone explain this behavior ?
