Hi,

I couldn't give up. It would bother me too much. So I figured
out the system is a PCI/ISA bus type instead of EISA/ISA so no
ECU was needed. I got lost numerous time on Compaq's web sites
but that for ranting another time.

I tried isacfg but never got it right. There's so little
documentation on it...Also got lost on Compaq web site looking
for it. Finally, iconfig helped because everything was graphical
...well, somewhat graphical. Just added an entry for MACH64, dev
0, bus 1, iobase 2EC (from small print on Tru64 install guide)
and boom! I got graphics booting from the CD. I knew I hit
the jackpot so it was just a matter of rebuilding a new kernel
and reboot.

Well,

I couldn't get this to work. I have no minimal X console even
if I boot up from a Tru64 CD. I tried booting the generic kernel
and configure it. I also dl'ed the Mach 64 driver, untarred, and
changed the sysconfigtab to build a new kernel which include it
but uerf shows no graphics console driver configured still.

I'm purchasing ECU now. I think the hardware has to be identified
by the firmware before I can make any headway.

Thanks to Dr. Tom Blinn, the usual suspect
and Thomas Strandenaes

Dr. Blinn suggested booting genvmunix and hinted that the hardware
needs to be there so the software subset can get loaded. The other
Tom suggested i load the MACH64-EISA driver.

Thanks guys.

Chan
