Kernel Tuning!!

Hi everyone, ever since our last upgrade from 4.0 - 4.0d we have been
experiencing high load averages compared to the load average before the
upgrade. We are running a 2100 3x190Mhz cpu's, 1G RAM, and on average 175
users accessing a large database....... I did have to add the following
from our last Kernel..

vm:
         new-wire-method = 0
         vm-page-free-target = 128
         ubc-maxpercent = 10
         ubc-borrowpercent = 10

advfs:
         AdvfsCacheMaxPercent = 1

ipc:
         sem-msl = 51
         sem-mni = 10
         shm-max = 6291456
         shm-mni = 500

proc:
         max-proc-per-user = 256
         maxusers = 320

What is everyone doing to monitor performance as far as indicators go, and
determine if it is a problem that can be fixed with the Kernel or something
else...

Thanks
