Dear friends,
I'm back asking for your help!

I'm going to install T64 5.0 on my 4100 running 4.0d.
I use SCSI/CAM Layered Component to manage my tz885 using "robot"
command. (I've the kit CLCMC313 SCSI CAM Medium Changer Driver V3.1C
installed on 4.0d).

All my unattended backups rely on the "robot" command so it is very
important that it works properly even on version 5.0 of T64.

I'm worring because I found the following URL
http://www.unix.digital.com/faqs/publications/updates/V50/TITLETXT.HTM
stating:
November 24, 1999: SCSI/CAM Layered Components Product is Unsupported

The SCSI/CAM Layered Components Product Version 5.0 that shipped on the Associated Products Volume
2 CD-ROM is not supported on Tru64 UNIX Version 5.0. This product kit includes the media changer
driver and the mcutil utility for setting up the media changer.

It is recommended that you do not install the SCSI/CAM Layered Component product on a Tru64 UNIX
Version 5.0 system that will also run the NetWorker Version 5.5.1 Server software. If the SCSI/CAM
product is installed, you must set the DISABLE_CLC_CHECK environment variable for the SCSI/CAM
        Layered Component product operate correctly.

See the Networker Version 5.5.1 Read-this-First (rtf551.doc) document for further information

Does it mean that "robot" will not work on 5.0?
Or does it mean to use the old version of SCSI/CAM Layer Product ?

The latest SCSI/CAM Layer Product (apart those on the 5.0 CDs) is CLC31E
(on the Software Product Library date october 1999). It is for DIGITAL
UNIX Operating System, Version 3.x or 4.0x , will it work on 5.0 as
well? Will it not even install on 5.0 ?

Until I get good news I cannot go to 5.0 and I'll wait on good old 4.0d.

Thank you for any help,
Emanuele
