Greetings,

I would like to thank all of those who replied to my
question. I would especially like to thank Tom Webster
for his help!

Here is what the resolution from Tom:

CDE Tends to be 'sensitive'. Here are some tips:

1. Make sure that matrix.pacbell.net is your hostname.
I've seen HP boxes fail to even start dtlogin if
   they have DNS/Hostfile issues.

2. This is the process that I generally use on DU
   systems:

   a. Use netsetup or the GUI net config tool
(hopefully it knows everything that need to be
      reconfigured).
   b. Deconfigure your network adapter and reboot.
   c. The system should come up without a hostname
assigned, the logs may complain about the system
having "amnesia" depending on the version of DU.
   d. Reconfigure the NIC with the new hostname.

I found this to be correct. I suggest using netconfig
to properly deconfigure the adapter. You will know
when the system is properly deconfigured when it comes
up and says "amnesia" as the system name.
