converting 8char msdos names back to long file names

Hi Tru 64 administrators,

We have some customers who ftp zip files created with old msdos versions of
pkzip to our Tru64 and Solaris servers. The files end up with names like...

myzip_~1.zip

Is there a utility (freeware or otherwise) that will run on Tru64 that can
read these msdos truncated file names and re-create the original long file
name that existed on the parent system? (telling the customers to upgrade
their software is not an option)

Thanks in advance for your help/advice!

Regards,

Jim
