Dear friends,
I received a definitive answer to the convauth problem. I soon send it
to the list before I have time to apply or test.
Thanks to Eric Abis (mailto:Eric.Abis_at_compaq.com Tru64 Internet Security
Group) who sent the following:
We here in the Tru64 Security Group are aware of the problems with convauth.
I have already submitted a fix for the convauth problem involving devassign.
Fixes for the convauth problems involving ttys.db and auth.db are not
available at this time. Luckily, there are a number of workarounds to those
problems.
For example, if you want to import previous 4.0d ttys data into the new 5.0
ttys.db, the edauth utility can do that for you. The script
/etc/auth/system/.mrg..ttys.db was specifically included with v5.0 to merge
old ttys.db format files into the new ttys.db format that ships with v5.0.
If that script doesn't work or it doesn't give you enough ideas on how to
perform the merge manually, or if you have any questions, please don't
hesitate to ask me.
Have a nice day,
Emanuele
