(unknown charset) OT: <ctl+d> says 'please type exit to logout'

Hi,
    Sorry for the off topic, but here it goes:
    I am used to hit <ctl+d> at prompt to logout, but one of my linux system says 'please type exit to logout'. How do I disable this feature?
