The consensus is that I should contact Field Service. They are checking for
a replacement part and are going to schedule a time with me to replace the
drive.

Subject: Errors on a tape drive
I've got a TZ89 DLT drive connected to an AS8400. When I load a tape and do
a `file /dev/nrmt0h` on the device I see this:
/dev/nrmt0h: character special (9/1027) SCSI #0 TZ89 tape #1 (SCSI ID
#1) (SCSI LUN #0) errors = 0/58 85700_bpi
The DECEvent entry is below and would seem to indicate a media error with
the tape, except that this has happened with about 10 different tapes since
Saturday. Are all of my tapes going flaky at once? or is this more likely a
problem with the drive?
The cleaning light hasn't gone on, but I've run a cleaning tape in the drive
after a few of these errors.
Thanks,
John
