Networker Y2K problems

Since the beginning of this year our Networker backups have been
acting strange. The backup still appears to run fine, but mminfo
always shows up the savesets as expired and nsrim says there are 0
files browsable/recoverable in the savesets. The index file also appears
to be growing without bounds now ( as if the data on savesets which
have been overwritten is not being purged ). In some places the year
shows up as "00" and other places it's "100" ( which I suspect is at
the heart of the problem )

This is happening on both a 4.0D and a 4.0F system. I'm running the
Networker which came with 4.0D on both systems though. The 4.0F ( and
5.0 ) software doesn't seem to ship with the "Single Server" version of
Networker, just the full blown version. Are my only choices to buy a full
priced Networker or stick with a version that no longer works right? If
I'm stuck with the obsolete version are there some workarounds to get
away from the infinitely growing index file?
