We've got an 8400 running 4.0d w/ PK5 and 3 PCI cages in it. We've got 22
KZPSA cards installed with 16 of them connected to external disks, 2
connected to BA boxes used for the LSM Mirroring, and 4 connecting to our
ATL. This server originally had only 2 PCI cages, but the third was added
when the ATL was purchased.
We are about to change the external disks that are connected and are going
to be replacing 8 of the KZPSAs with KZPBAs. I'd like to balance these 16
cards across all three PCI cages and also across the electrical busses on
each cage. However, if I do this, I'm fairly sure that the device IDs will
change on the two controllers connecting to our LSM mirrors.
My LSM experience is extremely limited, so I'm not even sure where in the
manuals to start looking. So I'm wondering three things:
How difficult of a process would it be to reassign the device IDs in LSM
once I shuffle the cards around the three cages?
What commands should I be investigating to accomplish this?
Would the benefits of balancing the load across the electrical busses be
over shadowed by having to reconfiguring LSM?
Thank you,
John Losey
