I installed patch kit 5 onto my PC164LX based machine running DU4.0D this
morning and am now having problems with my intraserver scsi card. The patch
kit specifically lists these scsi cards as being supported. (The native
support for my ELSA Gloria seemed to work just fine) After installing the
patch kit and rebuilding the kernel using the doconfig -c command and then
moving the new vmunix to the root directory, I noticed the following
message during the subsequent reboot:
stop_pci_initialize: Warning - Using unsupported 53c875 scsi chip
This indicates to me that the intraserver scsi card is not receiving native
support but is instead being defaulted back to a standard "slower" scsi
mode. This is the same message that I used to get on the unpatched 4.0D
prior to installing the 2.0.29 intraserver driver.
Since it seemed as if I was not receiving native support for this card, I
went ahead and reinstalled the intraserver drivers using the standard setld
-l command on a mounted floppy. I then rebuilt the kernel using the
doconfig -c command, moved the new vmunix to the root and then rebooted.
Unfortunately, I received the same stop_pci_initialize warning.
I suppose that it is quite likely that I am doing something wrong here but
I am at a complete loss to find it. Does anyone have any suggestions or
previous experience with this problem?
I will, of course, summarize if appropriate.
Thanks,
Bruce
