Oracle 8i problem on 4.0F

Hi !

Thanks for all you replies, most of you are suggested me to re-link the exes
and also re-link the Oracle exes
But i re-linked all the Exes and still gives me the same error.
Again i am sending you all the details of the problem.

We are having a code base of about 3 million lines of code. It is a
C/C++ application with Oracle 8i as the database. We have
recently upgraded from Digital Unix 4.0D to 4.0F 2 weeks back.

Since the upgrade we have been getting "calloc failed for 0 bytes"
kind of erros. Also some times programs hang. During debugging
we found that it is giving memory fault in some internal routine
in malloc.

In the release notes there was something written about malloc
tuning. The exact excerpt is as follows -

If Oracle8 running on Tru64 UNIX hangs, look for the following console
message:
malloc_wait:X : no space in map.
If this message is present add the following to /etc/sysconfigtab:
generic:
kmem-percent=XXX
In this example, XXX is the size of the kernel malloc map. By default, XXX
is set to 25 percent of physical memory. Increase this parameter to 50 and
reboot the system. If Oracle8 continues to hang, increase this parameter up
to 100.

We found that we haven't set this parameter at all in the system
so we set it from 10 to 100. Frankly speaking I couldn't find out what this
value means. Even then the programs are hanging. Hence I reverted back to
the old value.

As of now, we don't have any answers to this problem and it is
becoming increasingly diffcult for developers to work.

Pray, please suggest some solution for this.

Thanks a lot

Regards
Reddy

        Importance: High

        Dear Managers

We are having one Digital Alpha 4100 m/c with 4.0D and Oracle8i
loaded.
We are having our own application called Bancs2000 running on this
m/c,
which uses Oracle database, and uses Exes which are complied in 'C'
and C++
Recently we have upgraded the OS to 4.0F and i am getting error
"memory
        faults in calloc/malloc function."

Can some one help me out in resolving this problem.

        Thanls in Advance

        Regards
