There is no problem...

I have made a big mistake, this is the first time I have to install a new tape drive.
My first installation was O.K. but my test was stupid, when we do a "mt fsf 1" and a "mt rew" on a tape drive the "tape in use" led flash. I have done this single test with my new tape drive and a BLANK NEW TAPE. The result was different ...and send me in a wrong way. My tape drive already work fine.

My original Post :
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have tried to replace one TZ88 by a TZ89:

- At the >> prompt when I do a "show device", I can see the device.
- When I boot , in the uerf I saw the device again.
- I have do the MAKEDEV command for my "tz18" device.

Uerf entry:

 tz18 at scsi2 target 2 lun 0 (LID=36)
 _(DEC TZ89 (C) DEC 2150)
 _(Wide16)

Then problem, when I try a "mt rew" command, nothing append on the drive.

I use Digital Unix 4.0d patch 1, on an alpha server 2100a.

>From what version of DU the TZ89 drive was supported??
Somebody have the same problem??

UPDATE

I forget to mention that I have removed old files on /dev before making my MAKEDEV tz18 and I make a mistake on patch kit applied on my system.
It was the patch kit #3.
